'Nice Bergamote': The Scent of Happiness in a Bottle
In perfume workshops that I give, I let people smell an essential oil of bergamot blind. I am often surprised that people actually cannot easily recognize this beautiful scent and also do not know what bergamot is. Even if it looks like a lemon or lime, it is actually orange. It grows mainly in Italy, the Calabria region, and it comes from the Citrus aurantium tree. Bergamot smells citrusy, but with a unique floral and spicy edge. This raw material is very popular in perfumery, as it blends well with many other scents: lavender, rosemary, vetiver, jasmine, sandalwood, ylang-ylang. Bergamot is used in perfumery a lot, as it brings contrast to the perfume (like black and white in painting).
Bergamot is one of my favorite scents in perfumery and in general in life. I am obsessed with Earl Grey tea, where bergamot is used as a flavoring ingredient, as well as perfumes that contain bergamot. But a problem with bergamot-based scents is that the bergamot itself is not a very long-lasting one. Therefore, I was very happy when I got to smell 'Nice Bergamote' by Essential Parfums. I remember I got a discovery set of essential Parfums, and I sprayed each sample right away. When I smelled Nice Bergamote, it was like I fell in love with the universe again. I felt like someone lifted me, flew me around the universe, tickled me, and put me back with an ultimate happiness and joy pill that never stops working. For me, this scent is total happiness in a bottle! I do not know how the perfumer of this scent did it, but I can smell this bergamot uplifting, sunny, cheerful vibes for a very long time.
This scent is smooth, inoffensive, likable, definitely office appropriate, and with an amazing longevity and sillage! And guess what, this one is one of the most loved scents in my perfume workshops (and we smell like 20 perfumes and raw ingredients). So, I guess it says something, right?
